Soil Mix

soilmix.GIF (15378 bytes) Unlike sand, gravel or cinders, EPS flakes help to prevent heavy soils from baking hard.  Because of their foam structure and natural resilience, they also help to prevent hard packing of soil by tractors and farm implements.  Unlike some organic materials, EPS flakes do not rot and dissolve away.  They remain permanently in the soil and do not soak up water.

EPS flakes can be mixed with peat for propagating composts, with garden loam, or with nutrient-peat.  For propagation, a mixture of flakes and peat is used, containing 50% by volume peat enriched with lime and 1.7 Lbs. of complete fertilizer per cubic yard.

Warning  - As with all organic materials, EPS soil mix must be considered combustible when directly exposed to fire.   Do not expose to open flame or other source of ignition.
